In these unprecedented crisis if you are unable to keep your staff in work because you have been effected by Coronavirus, You can apply for Job Retention Scheme where Government can pay 80% of your eligible Furloughed staff’s salary for up to 3 months. 

 

Eligibility Criteria:  
 
You can claim for employees who: 
  • Were employed as of 19th March 2020 and were on PAYE payroll on or before this date. 
  • Employees who were made redundant between 28th February 2020 to 19th March 2020, can now be re-employed and eligible for the scheme. 
 
Company Directors: 

Company directors who are already on their payroll are also eligible to be furloughed and receive support through Job retention scheme. 

Directors who are furloughed may carry out particular duties to fulfil the statutory obligations they owe to the company, provided they do NO more than would reasonably be judged necessary for that purpose, i.e. they should not do work of a kind they would carry out in normal circumstances to generate commercial income or provide services to or on behalf of their company.

Please note, this also applies to salaried individuals who are directors of their own managed company (PSC).
