Who Must Comply & When
Every individual director and every PSC of a UK company must verify their identity to keep the public register accurate and to reduce the risk of fraud. This applies equally to private limited companies, public limited companies, and LLP members where relevant.
New directors appointed on or after 18 November 2025 must complete verification before their appointment is legally effective or before a new company can be incorporated.
Existing directors must complete verification by the date of their company’s next Confirmation Statement after 18 November 2025, giving most businesses a limited window of just a few months to act.
PSCs face deadlines based on whether they are also directors, the date of their appointment, and even their month of birth. For example, a PSC who is also a director must complete verification within 14 days of the company’s confirmation statement, while a PSC who is not a director may be required to verify during the month in which they were born.
Anyone who becomes a relevant legal entity holding significant control will also need to ensure that at least one natural person associated with that entity completes the process.
